While Berry remains coy about what exactly went down on set, she makes it very evident that Hemsworth was a big factor in getting the situation handled.

Standing Up, Praises Up

While speaking with E! News, Berry and Hemsworth were captured in good spirits as the two discuss the movie. But, it’s Berry who initiates the anecdote about her costar.

“This is one of my favorite new people in the whole wide world,” Berry gushes.

“Back at ya,” a bashful Hemsworth repeats.

“A stand-up guy. I won’t go into it now, but he stood up for me in a moment in our movie,” Berry regails. “…And instantly I knew right then I’m gonna follow this guy, be a fan of this guy for the rest of my life because he stood up for a woman.”

“He stood up for a woman that he didn’t have to. He didn’t have to do it and he did it,” she adds.

Coincidentally, both actors are a part of the Marvel universe. Hemsworth has played the character of Thor since 2011 while Berry took on the role of Storm in the “X-Men” film series starting in 2000.

Hemsworth has been confirmed for the 2026 superhero team up flick “Avengers Doomsday.” While Berry hasn’t been confirmed, many of her “X-Men” co-stars including Kelsey Grammer, Patrick Stewart, Rebecca Romijn and James Marsden are set to return to their characters.

Compliments All Around

Hemsworth immediately returned the favor of compliment.

“I’ve admired Halle’s work for many, many years,” he says of his costar. “I was obviously very intimidated to sit opposite her within a scene and try and, you know, not just be in awe of what she was doing.”

“Certain people just bring out not just the best in you,” Hemsworth continues. “But also sort of a comfort level where it feels like it’s a place to explore and it’s a place to examine different ideas and try different things. And that was the experience [with Berry]. I loved every second of it.”

While a trailer for “Crime 101” is on the way, footage was showcased for CinemaCon attendees with director Bart Layton joining the movie’s stars on stage. Big names make up the cast including Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan, Monica Barbaro, Corey Hawkins, Tate Donovan, Devon Bostick, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Nick Nolte.

Filming took place in Los Angeles with Layton really wanting to emphasize how great the city is. For instance, he told the audience that the famed 101 Freeway plays a major role in the movie. One of his biggest goals is “to capture L.A. in a way you might not have seen on film before.”

“Crime 101” is based on the novella of the same name by Don Winslow.
