A fan-favorite Hallmark star created a beautiful project for his daughter and hopes it’ll be something she treasures for years to come. Luke Macfarlane shared a fantastic video about the project on his Instagram page, and fans loved it.

Luke Macfarlane Put His Woodworking Skills to the Test

On April 2, Macfarlane took to his Instagram page to reveal the final result of a chair he created for his daughter, Tess. The post included several videos and photos, including a time-lapse video showing Macfarlane creating the chair.

In the caption of his post, he explained, “I’ve always been in love with EMECO’s @emecochairs navy chair. I wanted to see if I could capture that same form in Walnut for my daughter Tess.”

Emeco makes the chair that inspired Macfarlane and it was first created by them decades ago. The company builds The Navy Chair by hand out of recycled aluminum. They have since added variations with wooden seats made of oak, cherry, ash, or walnut.

As Macfarlane noted, he wanted to create a small, child-sized version made entirely of walnut. In the caption of his post, he shared some details of how he approached the project.

He noted, “I hope she will cherish it long after she outgrows it.”

On June 21, 2023, Macfarlane announced via Instagram that he and his partner, alpine skier Hig Roberts, had welcomed a daughter. “Tess Eleanor Macfarlane– Born June 4th 2023… On Father’s Day we got to take her home,” he wrote.

Hallmark Fans Were Impressed by the Actor’s Work

Macfarlane’s Instagram post with his reveal of the custom-made chair received a flood of comments from impressed followers. The Instagram page for Emeco posted a pair of emojis signaling their love for it, and the final result left many others duly impressed.

One fan gushed it was “A beautiful chair that will be cherished & passed down through several generations!”

“I absolutely love seeing all of your woodwork. It reminds me of my dad, growing up. He made my cousin and me a beautiful cradle for our baby dolls. 40+yrs later, I cherish it so much. I hope your little girl will cherish this beautiful chair,” another fan wrote.

“Amazing to see this and reflect back on all the pieces you’ve created over the years. The artistry is profound,” someone else noted.

“Tess is a lucky little girl to have a daddy (two, actually) who loves her so much. [She’ll] cherish that chair long after she grows bigger than it,” an additional comment read.
