Harry Potter Reboot: First Look At Draco Malfoy & New Hogwarts Robes

Harry Potter set photos have revealed a first look at Draco Malfoy in the upcoming TV reboot, alongside major changes to Hogwarts’ house robes. The upcoming Harry Potter TV reboot will be remaking J.K. Rowling’s book series from the very beginning, featuring a new cast bringing its beloved characters to the small screen. This includes Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy.

Now, Wizarding World Direct has released behind-the-scenes set photos of Harry Potter, offering a first look at Pratt portraying Draco. He can be seen on set walking while wearing his Hogwarts robes. Other images show Dominic McLaughlin as Harry, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, and Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, also dressed in their wizarding school attire.

What’s interesting to note is that the robes look different from their movie counterparts. In the Harry Potter film series, the robes are black, carrying the insignia of either of the four houses on their left side. However, the set photos signal the robes are going to be quite different, sporting a reddish-brown color unique to the TV series.

Filming for the HBO remake of the Wizarding Worlds book series began in July 2025. Production on season 1 is expected to last until mid-2026, after which there will be a short reprieve before season 2 starts shooting. These latest set photos emphasize how the Harry Potter TV show cast are embodying the core characters of the series.

Everyone seen in the photos will have a core role to play in the upcoming episodes of the show. Draco is introduced in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone as a bully who acts as an opposing force to Harry. He’s also bigoted against Muggle-born wizards and witches, something that puts him at odds with Hermione Granger when the pair meet.

While the set photos don’t reveal too many details about what’s transpiring in the story, it seems like the show will be following the important elements of the first book for Draco’s relationship to the core heroes. This means he’s going to be a key foil to Harry throughout the season, especially as he grows accustomed to being a wizard.

With the new set photos also confirming a new look for Hogwarts’ robes, Harry Potter‘s TV rendition will likely be a fitting combination between the expected and the unexpected for the series. The show is clearly going to differentiate itself from the film adaptation, while still keeping the core aspects that define the source material.

Harry Potter is expected to air on HBO and HBO Max in 2027.
