Harshvardhan Kapoor Exhausted Playing Two Double Roles In 2 Films

Well…not technically. But yes, Harshvardhan for all practical purposes has played 4 characters in the two films he has done so far.

In his eagerly awaited debut film Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Mirzya Harshvardhan is cast as two different lovers belonging to two different eras. Both the segments were shot separately and are not connected with one another at all.Harshvardhan says it was like shooting two different films .

And now in his second film Bhavesh Joshi which Harshvardhan is currently shooting on the streets of Mumbai,Anil Kapoor’s son has to portray the same character during two different stages of his life.

Says a  source, “There is Bhavesh Joshi at age 21.And then there is  Bhavesh Joshi at age 26.And the character transforms completely in the two phases of his life.”

Says Harshvardhan, “There are heavy and exhausting tonal shifts in the character. And due to time constraints, I didn’t get time to prepare beforehand for the shifts in characters.”

The outdoor locations, says Harshvardhan, are also gruelling. “We are shooting on actual locations in various parts of  Mumbai for extremely long hours and really difficult scenes.”

Preparing for Mirzya was easier for Harshvardhan, “For Rakeysh Sir’s film we had  all the time in the world. We worked at a far more leisurely pace. I even had time to prepare between takes. The approach to filmmaking inVikramaditya Motwane’s Bhavesh Joshi is far more urgent and rapidfire.”

Scenes are being shot guerrilla-like in night-time Mumbai to avoid crowds of fans who already recognize and mob Harshvardhan.

For a 2-film ‘old’ actor Harshavardhan admits he is excessively demanding on himself. “I’m self critical at times and keep thinking about if things could’ve been better , but Vikramidtya Motwane is a true blue auteur .He sees the film very clearly and works out editing patterns in his mind.”
