It’s been one year since the film was announced in August last year but it is yet to roll…
Buzz is that Emraan Hashmi’s first production Capt Nawab, which he had announced on August 26 last year, has been shelved. Bollywood trade people have been talking about it for some time but the producers, Emraan and Tony D Souza (also directing the film), have maintained that the film will roll this year.Says a film trade analyst, “The duo announced the film last year with much fanfare but apparently Emraan’s Capt Nawab has been shelved as it’s become over budget and there’s hardly any money left now to complete the film. It’s a very expensive film to make as Hollywood technicians are required and the action-packed climax on snow-capped locations is said to be one of the most expensively shot sequence in Bollywood. Emraan and Tony have approached action choreographer Dan Bradley (done work in films like Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3, The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum, Superman Returns, Indiana Jones and Mission: Impossible -Ghost Protocol among others) but he is yet to give the nod.”

Emraan had started prepping for the film from December last year as the film was to start from January this year but it’s exactly a year since Capt Nawab was announced and yet the film has not rolled. The source adds, “While Tony has said to media the film will start in September or October this year, Emraan can only start prepping for his character from next month as he was shooting for Baadshaho till now. It seems nobody has a clue to when the film will begin. Emraan also has to start prepping for the film and work on his physique and mannerisms as he plays an Army officer and learn how to use arms correctly. He plays a double agent (working for both India and Pakistan) and gets in trouble, when both sides come to know of his betrayal. Emraan will also have to learn Urdu and Punjabi for the character. But he hasn’t started any of this as yet so one wonders what is really happening to Capt Nawab?”

Emraan Hashmi’s spokesperson says, “The film is very much going on floors. Casting is still being done and two more cast members will be signed this month post which we will make an announcement.”
