Fans are wondering if Upload Season 5 will be renewed or canceled following a heartbreaking Season 4 finale. What started as a sci-fi comedy took viewers by surprise, leaving them wondering if the story has really concluded. The show features Robbie Amell, Andy Allo, Allegra Edwards, Kevin Bigley, Zainab Johnson, and Owen Daniels in key roles.
Here’s what the show’s creator had to say about the future of Upload beyond Season 4.
Is Upload Season 5 canceled or renewed by Prime Video?
Upload has ended with its fourth season, and there will be no Season 5.
The sci-fi comedy is set in the near future, where people can choose to “upload” their consciousness into a digital afterlife. The story follows Nathan, who dies unexpectedly and is uploaded to a luxurious virtual world called Lakeview. There, he meets Nora, a living customer service rep who helps him adjust. As they get closer, they begin to learn about the dark secrets surrounding Nathan’s death.
Season 4 concluded the story, and the creators have no plans to continue with another season. While announcing Season 4, Greg Daniels, the creator of the show spoke about his plans for the series.
Daniels said, “When I conceived Upload many years ago, I had the story arced out over four seasons.” He added, “So, I am thrilled to make the ending the fans deserve and the characters and creative team have been working towards. Jen Salke and Vernon Sanders have been our Angels, and they deserve 5 stars” (via Deadline).
Veron Sanders, head of television for Amazon MGM Studios, had also talked about the show. “I’m thrilled to share that ‘Upload’ will return to Prime Video for a fourth and final installment,” Sanders shared. “We’re grateful to Greg and the fantastic team behind the series, and while goodbyes are bittersweet, we know that the series will be uploaded to its well-deserved idealistic afterlife.”
