HGTV star Heather Rae El Moussa is opening up about how her life turned out a bit differently than she planned.
On April 23, Heather Rae El Moussa took to her Instagram account to share a few clips that showed her spending time with her husband, Tarek El Moussa, and his ex-wife, Christina Haack. As fans are aware, Haack co-stars with the El Moussas on the HGTV series, “The Flip Off.” Heather Rae El Moussa also included a video of her and her husband’s son, Tristan, with Haack and Tarek El Moussa’s children, Brayden, and Taylor.
In the text overlying the video, Heather Rae El Moussa shared how she intended to live her life before meeting Tarek El Moussa.
“Plan A: Find my soulmate, Get married, Rock Star Real Estate Agent, No Kids,” wrote Heather Rae El Moussa.
She then shared how her life turned out.
“Plan B: Find my perfect man, Flip houses, Become a reality TV star, Start a few businesses, Give birth + have the best blended family,” continued Heather Rae El Moussa.
“Sometimes life doesn’t turn out how you expected it to… it turns out even better. 💕,” read the caption of the post.

Heather Rae El Moussa Opened up About Her Relationship With Tarek El Moussa
During a March 2025 interview on the “Scrubbing In” podcast, Heather Rae El Moussa said she did not believe she would ever date someone with children before she met her now-husband in 2019.
“I had always said I would never date a man with kids,” said Heather Rae El Moussa.
She explained that she went from being single to having the added responsibility of being a parental figure to Brayden and Taylor.
During a January 2025 interview with HGTV, the El Moussas and Haack spoke about co-parenting their children. According to Tarek El Moussa, his wife helped improve the situation between him and his ex-wife, who divorced in 2016.
“Over the last four years, it’s gotten even stronger bringing Heather into our world, and Heather being a stepmom and building a relationship with Christina, and all of us working together. It’s brought us all back together as a family,” said Tarek El Moussa.
Heather Rae El Moussa also said that she and Haack “help keep each other organized” when it comes to the children.
“There’s a lot of school stuff and sports stuff. She and I are constantly talking everyday about that stuff. We share the sports bags and the school backpacks. It’s a lot of coordinating and really helping each other,” said Heather Rae El Moussa during the interview.
Heather Rae El Moussa also praised Haack for letting her “come in and parent” Taylor and Brayden.
“I really praise her because being a mom and letting another woman come in isn’t easy,” said Heather Rae El Moussa.
