Just before longtime HGTV personality Page Turner replaces Hilary Farr as the designer on “Love It or List It” — set to debut its 20th season on April 21, 2025 — Farr is creating her own buzz with a new look and a big new project.
After starring in 258 episodes of “Love It or List It” since 2008, Farr announced her departure from the series in December 2023. The beloved interior designer, 73, has been fairly quiet since, occasionally posting on social media about her family, appearances at interior design events, and a farewell video to her show in late March.
But on April 9, Farr shocked fans with a video from her home in Toronto, where she not only revealed she’s staging a personal “Love It or List It” renovation but also debuted a surprise makeover, trading in her trademark brunette bob for a pulled-back, gray hairdo.

Dressed casually in gray sweats in her video, Farr said she’d decided to renovate her Toronto kitchen and living area, teasing that she hadn’t decided whether to design it to “love it or list it.” She captioned the video, revealing stacks of boxes already packed, “This is really a big challenge! Ugh! I hate the process of packing chaos! Will it be worth it?”
“It’s kind of cool because it still looks like a great kitchen,” Farr said of the space, with a large island and dark brown cabinetry. “It’s 21 years old, this kitchen, and it’s had wear and tear. It’s still in function and it still looks good.”
Nevertheless, she said, “My walls need painting, my light fixtures need upgrading, my trim needs to be fixed up, and these are all things that I have to do after 21 years,” leading Farr to decide to do a full renovation.
“I’m getting excited because I love the idea of refreshing this house,” she told her followers. “But here’s the dilemma: do I renovate to love it or do I renovate to list it? And no, I haven’t made up my mind yet, but I hate this chaos.”
Visentin, her longtime co-star, adorably weighed in with a comment that drew over 200 likes in less than 24 hours: “Are you really going to make me say it? Of course you design to List It! You know where to reach me ;).”
Farr replied, “Ha!! You’re on my speed dial.wait-is that an archaic reference..📞☎️”
Fans Flood Hilary Farr With Compliments Over Her Graying Hair: ‘Silver Fox’
Farr didn’t acknowledge her new hairstyle in her video or in the comment section, but fans were quick to notice and compliment the new look.
“Is that grey hair I see?” one person asked, drawing 145 likes on her comment. “I LOVE it!!”
Another wrote, “Yay!!! You’re a silver fox!!! Beautiful! It looks so good on you!!!”
Others called her new look “the chicest,” “marvelous,” and “quite attractive!”
The last time Farr posted a video of herself was in late January, taken in the same kitchen. At the time, her shorter bob was chin-length with gray roots appearing along her hairline.
Two years prior, in April 2023, Farr shared an unintentional hair change after being in quarantine with COVID. Sharing a video of her and her dog Suki on a walk, she said, “If you’ve noticed, my hair seems to have gone orange. Is that COVID? Who knows?”
