Highlight's Lee Gi Kwang to return to K-drama scene with 'I Kill U'

Highlight’s Lee Gi Kwang is returning to the K-drama scene with I Kill U.

On August 22, it was officially confirmed that Lee Gi Kwang is the main lead of the Watcha original K-drama I Kill U.

This will be the follow-up K-drama project of Lee Gi Kwang after starring in the 2024 hit series Marry My Husband with Park Min Young, Na In Woo, Lee Yi Kyung, Song Ha Yoon, and Gong Min Jung.

In addition to being a member of the K-pop group Highlight, Lee Gi Kwang is also active in solo works, like acting.

Lee Gi Kwang started his career as a solo artist before joining the K-pop boy group BEAST in 2009. When the group couldn’t secure the trademark for their name, they re-debuted as Highlight in 2017. He also began acting in 2009, appearing in K-dramas such as My Princess, Twenty Years Old, Mrs. Cop, Monster, Lovely Horribly, and more.

Aside from his solo endeavors, Lee Gi Kwang is also set to meet global fans through Highlight’s 2025 Asia Tour “RIDE OR DIE.” The group will hold concerts in Taipei, Macau, Manila, Tokyo, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, and more.

I Kill U will tell the story of Sun Woo, a once-promising Taekwondo athlete. She is offered a job to pretend as a wealthy heiress from Beomhan Construction Company to cover up the heiress’s involvement in a fatal hit-and-run. While Sun Woo must fool the public and the media, the heiress’s stepbrother, driven by an inferiority complex, plots to bring her down and take control of the company.

Lee Gi Kwang will work with Kang Ji Young, Uhm Tae Woong, and Kim Mi Ran in the upcoming series.

In the series, Lee GI Kwang will portray the role of Ho Joong, the half-brother of the wealthy heiress of Beomhan Construction Company. He is driven by an inferiority complex to find an opportunity to become the family’s successor.

This is the latest work of director Yoo Ha, who also created the films Pipeline, Gangnam 1970, Howling, A Frozen Flower, and more.

I Kill U will be available for streaming starting today. The K-drama will have a total of six episodes, and it will be available on streaming platforms Watcha and Wavve.
