Depending on your actions in Hollow Knight: Silksong, you can unlock one of multiple endings that change the Hallownest’s fate. Much like the original Hollow Knight, the endings you get are determined by which quests you complete, which characters you interact with, and what other goals you accomplish before the credits roll.
Many of this game’s endings are determined through completion, rewarding players with an alternate outcome if they leave no stone unturned. As a result, some of the rarer endings may require you to finish all Delivery quests, for example, or beat every optional boss in Silksong. Some endings could demand a new playthrough, as it’s almost impossible to get them all in one run.
How Many Endings Are There In Hollow Knight: Silksong?
Figure Out Each Way Fate Can Be Changed
There are five different endings in Hollow Knight: Silksong, all obtainable once you defeat one of the final bosses in the game’s story Acts. Each ending has an achievement/trophy tied to it, making them worth working for if you want to 100% complete one of 2025’s best titles.
Some endings demand that you reach the hidden Act 3 of Silksong, especially to reach the “True” ending of the game. As you might expect, there are “Good” and “Bad” outcomes, but there are unexpected conclusions as well, such as an “Extra” ending. From this point on, expect heavy spoilers regarding the endings of Hollow Knight: Silksong. The endings you can get in Hollow Knight: Silksong are listed below, including what type of ending they are:
- Weaver Queen – “Normal” Ending
- Twisted Child – “Cursed” Ending
- Snared Silk – “Bad” Ending
- Sister of the Void – “True” Ending
- Passing of the Age – “Extra” Ending
These endings all have unique, yet similar requirements with only slight deviations to them. Failing to meet the unlock conditions of one ending will lock you into another, preventing you from seeing a special cutscene, or even a promising message that implies something more.
How To Get The Weaver Queen Ending
Defeat Different Foes Standing In Your Way
The “Normal” ending, also known as The Weaver Queen ending, is unlocked when you defeat Grand Mother Silk and bind her at the end of Act 2. This takes place after you use the Threefold Melody to unlock the elevator in the Cogwork Core to reach Grand Mother Silk, the final boss of many typical playthroughs.
To get to Grand Mother Silk to reach any ending, you have to defeat Lace for the second time in one of Silksong‘s hardest boss fights. This is tied to many endings, so make sure you’re prepared for this challenge before pursuing a conclusion.
All you have to do for this ending is choose the prompt to “Bind” Grand Mother Silk once you beat her. This binds her power to Hornet, causing her to be wrapped up in silk along with the Citadel. As she remains in silk bindings, she begins to transform before the screen cuts to black.
How To Get The Twisted Child Ending
Take On A Heavy Curse
The “Cursed” ending is called The Twisted Child, and only takes place when you beat Grand Mother Silk at the end of Act 2. However, you have to be cursed to initiate this ending through one of the many Wish side quests present in the game.
From this point, you need to complete the following steps to become cursed:
- Start the side quest called “Rite of the Pollip.”
- Track down all Pollip Hearts in Hollow Knight: Silksong and complete the Pollip Wish.
- Find the Twisted Bud, an item located in Bilewater in a cradle made of vines.
- Give the Twisted Bud to the NPC Greyroot, a Witch located in Shellwood.
- Agree to help Greyroot after giving them the Twisted Bud.
- Begin the “Rite of Rebirth” Wish.
- Allow Greyroot to capture and ensnare Hornet.
- Escape the Chapel of the Witch.
Doing these steps will result in Hornet’s Silk and Needle weapon in Silksong changing form, indicating a curse that now lingers within her. Once you’re cursed, you simply need to go through the rest of the game as normal, without taking any steps to cure Hornet before reaching Grand Mother Silk.
While you can get rid of the curse through the instructions of the character Pavo, you need to keep the curse until Grand Mother Silk is defeated to unlock The Twisted Child ending. This ending is easily missed if you go on to Act 3 or cure the curse, so make sure to do neither until you see its special outcome.
How To Get The Snared Silk Ending
Continue Onward Past What Only Seems Like An Ending
The Snared Silk ending may be considered the “Bad” outcome, but it is actually only the beginning of Silksong‘s extended story. Easily missed, this ending helps to unlock Act 3, a continuation beyond the defeat of Grand Mother Silk with more challenging bosses, extra levels, and far more for players to do.
Before you are able to unlock the Snared Silk ending, you have to complete almost every Wish side quest in the game. You’re able to view some Wishes from quest bulletin boards in various areas to help with this completion goal.
The key to this ending is to unlock the “Silk and Soul” Wish, which requires you to get four core items — The Hermit’s Soul, The Maiden’s Soul, the Seeker’s Soul and the Snare Setter. With these items, you can talk to the Caretaker NPC in Songclave to craft the Needolin, an artifact that can help defeat Grand Mother Silk.
When you defeat Grand Mother Silk with the Needolin in your inventory, a “Needolin” option appears alongside “Bind.” Pick the Needolin option against Grand Mother Silk to get the Snared Silk ending, which opens up “The Abyss,” the hidden third story Act.
How To Get The Sister Of The Void Ending
Confront The Darkness At The End Of The Journey
The Sister of the Void ending is only gained in Act 3, so you need to have unlocked the “Snared Silk” ending first. Act 3 is filled with dangerous enemies and far tougher areas, but your efforts will get you closer to obtaining the “True” ending to the game.
For the Sister of the Void ending, you have to follow these steps:
- Reach Act 3 and go through various objectives.
- Defeat the boss Nyleth in the Grand Gate to get the Pollen Heart item.
- Head to the Sands of Karak area in Act 3.
- Defeat the Crust King Khann boss and get the Encrusted Heart item.
- Go to the Hunter’s March area.
- Defeat the boss Karmelita to get the Hunter’s Heart item.
- Start the Ritual at the Moss Grotto area.
- Reach the end of the Red Memory to gain the Overbloom item.
- Go to The Abyss area and defeat The Lost Lace boss.
There are plenty of hidden details in Silksong during the third Act that are easy to miss, but completing these goals will help you unlock the hardest ending in the game. Taking on the final boss of Act 3 will take every skill and effort you have, so be ready for a true fight.
Complete One Final Request To Reach A Unique Outcome
The final “Extra” ending of Silksong, named Passing of the Age, also appears in Act 3 with Sister of the Void. To start reaching this outcome, you have to talk to the Fleamaster NPC in the Putrified Ducts once you are fully in The Abyss part of the story.
The “Ecstasy of the End” Wish begins when you speak to Fleamaster, causing a platform to arise out of the Putrified Ducts water. Push the platform that appears until it reaches the right end of the room, where you can use Hornet’s grappling claw to launch upward onto some higher platforms.
Continue climbing to the upper left to reach a room full of mushrooms in this space. Here, you can inspect a spot in the Moss Grotto to talk to someone named Mister Mushroom, who’ll appear both in this location and in the Bone Bottom section of the map later.
You have to exhaust all of Mister Mushroom’s dialogue in each area you find them in to make progress toward The Passing of the Age era. Doing this will cause the NPC to disappear until you find them again.
Mister Mushroom will show up again in Far Fields, and later a few more times in the Grey Moore, The Slab, and Mount Fay areas. After seeing the character multiple times, you can talk to them a final time at the top of the Choral Chambers to complete the Wish quest you started with Fleamaster.
After your final conversation with Mister Mushroom, you can defeat the final boss of Act 3 to get this fifth, additional conclusion to the game. Unlike the others, managing to unlock this ending in Hollow Knight: Silksong will display a “To Be Continued” screen before the credits, indicating that there is, perhaps, even more story to be told.
