Hollywood Again Beats Bollywood  At The Boxoffice

They did it again! The international release this week The Conjuring 2  has outdone the collections of this week’s Hindi releases Ribhu Dasgupta’s Te3n and Deepak Tijori’s Do Lafzon Ki Kahani.

The first day’s boxoffice collection Of The Conjuring 2 at the Indian boxoffice was approximately Rs 4.25 crore rupees, as compared to approximately 2.75 crores for TeE3 and around Rs 1 crore for Do Labzon KiKahani.

This is a carryover of an alarming trend that has gathered momentum this year. Audiences are boycotting indigenous products for firangi maal.

A worried producer who has a major release this year says, “If this remains a trend we’ll have to shut shop.Bhushan Kumar is not wrong in saying we need to put an embargo on Hollywood releases to save Hindi cinema.”

Commenting on The Conjuring 2  out-performing the Hindi releases trade analyst Atul Mohan says, “ Not only me but many are clueless about the same. Hollywood movies are generating greater response than Hindi films nowadays. What I believe is that  cinema-going audience is the younger generation which are in maximum today as per population. They are our biggest consumers now. They are more updated due to various social media platforms. Hollywood is the flavour of the season. The alarm bells are  alarmingly getting louder and louder. The audience wants time-pass and if Hindi films cannot give it they will patronize Hollywood films.”

Says film critic Raja Sen, “I think TE3N had very little buzz. There was hardly any promotion and people were unaware that it was releasing. Also the strange name might have been hard to popularize. I told people I had to review Teen and they assumed I was going to watch three movies one after another.”
