How Big Will Race 3 Be? First Review

Salman Khan and Eid go hand in hand. And we all know this superstar Khan owns the Eid weekend.

So how big is Race 3 going to be?

According to an actor who watched the film at its first screening, “Race 3 lacks the strong powerful persuasive content of Salman’s Sultan, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and even Tiger Zinda Hai. But it’s aterrific timepasser and a fabulous blues-chaser with amazing speed and sound. It doesn’t give you a chance to mull over the logistics. It’s like one rush of a rollercoaster joyride, exhilarating , it leaves you a bit shaken with its relentless attempts at doing a Rohit Shetty on a Abbas-Mustan plot.”

So how big is Race 3 going to be at the boxoffice?

Very big, says trade analyst Atul Mohan. “Looks like Salman is in the mood to continue from where he left in Tiger Zinda Hai. People want him doing a lot of action and he is going to deliver that with Race 3 which is obvious from promos. Race as a franchise is also successful and Salman’s entry in the franchise has only elevated its prospects. The combination of Eid and Salman Khan we all know is successful. Director Remo D’Souza is also successful with ABCD series in his kitty. With the widest possible release I expect the opening day to be highest for 2018 in the range of 35-40 crore.”

However film critic Raja Sen disagrees with Mohan, “I don’t think it can be Salman’s biggest simply because it’s not looked at as a Salman film. It’s an ensemble film, which is not something Salman’s done a lot recently. Also, I’m a bit alarmed ever since I saw Bobby Deol’s body in the trailer. It looks loud and manic and the film is clearly trying to be Dhoom, but the silly lines and weak heroines already let it down.”

Film exhibitor Manoj Desai who owns the twin Gaiety-Galaxy says, “I think Race 3 will be a big hit. That’s why I’ve booked both Gaiety and Galaxy to screen Race 3. But of course the final decision lies with the audience.”
