I Am Now Fully Mumbai Based…I Visit Delhi To Meet My Son,” Chitrangda Singh

On Her Return To Acting After 5 Years

We did see her in an item song and a guest appearance in a couple of films. But Chitrangda Singh has been missing in action from the movies for the last five years. Her last full-fledged appearance was in Sudhir Mishra’s Inkaar in 2013. Now she will be seen again in Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Sahib Bibi Aur Gangster 3.

Chitrangda refuses to call it a comeback. “The past few years,I’d say was a time of great churning. Many things were happening in my life. I needed to sort out my life before plunging into a new phase in my career. Now I am far more settled and calm and ready for my next innings.”

Chitrangda has now moved bag and baggage to Mumbai. “Earlier I was shuttling between Delhi and Mumbai. Producers would wonder whether I was in Delhi or Mumbai. I am now full Mumbai based.”

As for Sahib Bibi Aur Gangster 3 here’s how it happened. “The director Tigmanshu Dhulia and I were discussing projects for a while. This time I took the plunge. And I loved it. My role is that of a nautch girl. She comes from a family that has served Sanjay Dutt. And now it’s her turn. She’s secretly in love with him. But never expresses her feelings. She is the only pureheart among the corrupt characters of the film.”

Interestingly Chitrangdna describes herself as a puresoul in her other project as well. “I play Saif Ali Khan’s wife in Bazaar. Again in a world gone to seed she’s the fulcrum of purity.”

Chitrangda was very impressed by Sanjay Dutt during the shooting of Sahib Bibi Aur Gangster. “He is so dedicated and so focused on his work. Tigmanshu was apprehensive about Sanjay Dutt’s schedules. But Sanjay surprised everyone with his discipline. I had worked with him when he did a brief role in Desi Boyz. This time I got to work with him full-on.And it was enjoyable.”

She now looks forward to more quality work. “As I said , I am now more relaxed and in Mumbai. My son is in Delhi. I get to visit him whenever I feel like. I am making a new life for my career and looking forward to a fresh start in my career.”
