Jagga Jasoos Sinks Further The Ranbir-Anurag Basu Fall-Out

For those who believe lightning cannot strike the same place twice, Jagga Jasoos has proven them wrong. The Indian boxoffice is struck down twice in a row with two thundering flops.

The film industry still reeling under the failure of  Tubelight just a month ago is faced with another boxofficecrisis of catastrophic proportions. As the collections of Jagga Jasoos fell even further post the weekend, the blame game had already begun with sources from the production end blaming director Anurag Basu.

“For nearly four years he sat on the project, shooting re-shooting , scrapping 30-40 percent  of the film while costs were mounting.Knowing the staggering budget , we knew Jagga Jasoos would  never be  able to recover its costs. But we were not prepared for this level of  rejection,” says a production helmer.

While it’s too early to predict the  enormity of the catastrophe it is unlikely that Ranbir Kapoor will ever work with Anurag Basu again. Though outwardly they may pretend to be uber-cool with one another, the fact is the failure of the film has taken its toll on their mutual trust.

Apparently Ranbir who co-produced the film tried on several occasions to warn Anurag about the project going awry.

“But Anurag kept saying, ‘Let the film release. Doodh ka doodh paani ka paani ho jayega’. Rambir trusted his director-friend’s vision. But at the end of it he can least afford another flop in his career,” says the source.

Apparently Ranbir’s father Rishi Kapoor is not the only one upset by the resounding rejection of Jagga Jasoos. Sanjay Dutt who cares deeply for Ranbir has been warning him about the eccentric choice of roles.

Now only Dutt can save Ranbir. The bio-pic on the senior actor  which has Ranbir playing Sanjay Dutt is directed by the can-do-no-wrong Raj Kumar Hirani.

Will Dutt save Ranbir’s career?
