Jelly Roll has been on a health journey that, of course, includes nutritious meals. The new “American Idol” “artist in residence” shared a look at what he eats in a typical day on tour and it all looks delicious!

Jelly Roll Eats a Variety of Healthy Foods on Tour

On March 30, Jelly Roll took to Instagram to share what he eats in a day — with the help of a personal chef.

“Chef Larios has been killing it even more lately so today we wanted to show y’all a little bit of what the day to day looks like on tour,” the singer shared in the caption.

Surprisingly, there’s no “diet” food here, but rather recreations of comfort foods that are far healthier. Jelly Roll eats two meals and a snack, but doesn’t sacrifice any of the flavor of his favorite foods.

First up, Chef Larios found a way to recreate a Waffle House breakfast bowl. The base is homemade hashbrowns, peppers, chicken sausage, and bone broth. It’s topped with air-fried potatoes and sauerkraut.

“This all started because I loved Waffle House,” Jelly Roll explained. “Larios figured out a way to make ’em not only taste good, but they’re good for my tummy.”

The new “American Idol” addition also had a decadent snack packed with protein and goodness: a peanut butter dough cookie bite with bananas on the side.

His final meal was a riff on poutine that he called “protein poutine,” made with dairy-free cashew cheese curds and gravy on top of fries and shredded chicken thighs.

Chef Shares the Secret of Jelly Roll’s Weight Loss

On September 14, 2024, Larios took to Instagram to share photos from Jelly Roll’s tour. He explained, “The big dog @jellyroll615 has been absolutely crushing it on his health journey this tour. The habits he’s been building are truly life changing and he’s doing this while also changing lives on this 56 city tour. Excited for him to show the world he’s just getting warmed up!”

In a February 2025 Men’s Journal interview, Larios shared how Jelly Roll has been so successful with his weight loss efforts.

“The biggest thing was his relationship with food,” Larios explained. “Being from the South it wasn’t like I was gonna just start feeding him salads.”

The nutritionist and chef added, “The biggest goal was just to have good options available for him and teach him that there really is no bad food — it’s just calories in, calories out at the end of the day.”

“He can still eat the foods he likes, but he’s at a point now where he’s so focused on the weight loss that he doesn’t even care about the food flavor,” Larios noted.
