Jennie Sparks Dating Speculation with Mysterious Post Ahead of V’s Military Discharge

BLACKPINK‘s Jennie has once again stirred the pot of K-pop dating rumors: this time with a suspiciously timed Instagram post just one day before BTS V‘s official military discharge on June 10.

While Jennie has remained largely inactive on social media since the end of her RUBY album promotions and the conclusion of her Coachella 2025 stage in late April, her June 9 post featuring behind-the-scenes images from the Seoul City music video has reignited fan theories about her rumored relationship with V.

Although Seoul City was released back in March and its MV dropped in April, Jennie made no significant promotional updates for over a month. Her sudden return to Instagram on June 9, coincidentally one day before V’s discharge, has sparked waves of speculation online.

Adding fuel to the fire are lyrics from Seoul City, which many believe reference V, who currently holds the rank of officer in the military. The line “Mr. General” from the song has been repeatedly highlighted by fans, especially since Jennie is known to mimic a military salute during that part of the performance.

Some fans have even pointed out a suspiciously placed “T” in one of her photos, possibly alluding to V’s real name, Taehyung.

Online forums quickly lit up with commentary like:
- “Why wait until now to promote Seoul City? The timing is too perfect.”
- “The lyrics and the gestures all line up. It’s hard to call this a coincidence.”
- “Or maybe it’s just promo, fans are definitely reading too much into this.”
Jennie and V were previously linked through leaked photos in 2022 and were later spotted hand-in-hand in Paris in 2023. Though both HYBE and YG Entertainment declined to confirm or deny the relationship, the images left a lasting impression. Reports in late 2023 suggested they broke up shortly before V’s enlistment, but their connection has never been fully dismissed by fans.

Amid the renewed buzz, some fans are urging restraint, reminding others not to jump to conclusions and to respect the artists’ privacy.

On the music front, Jennie continues to break records. RUBY has sold over 550,000 copies in China, making her the best-selling female solo K-pop artist in the market to date. The album was also named one of Rolling Stone’s Best Albums of 2025. She is set to rejoin BLACKPINK in July for the group’s DEADLINE World Tour kickoff concert in Korea.
Meanwhile, V’s discharge marks the beginning of BTS‘s long-awaited group return, with a new album currently in the works. With both BLACKPINK and BTS back in full force, the second half of 2025 promises to be a landmark moment in K-pop history, romance rumors and all.
