Actress Jennifer Aniston has provided a series of fitness tips that keep her in shape at age 56.

“If I don’t work out, I feel like crap,” Aniston told Prevention. “If I get lazy or if I slack off, whether it’s my physical routine or my mental routine, I notice such an incredible difference. I know that even if I do 10, 20 minutes [of a workout], it’s going to make all the difference in the world.”

According to Prevention, Aniston is focused on building muscle as she ages.

In the interview with Prevention, Aniston touted the benefits of strength training.

“[I want] to feel great, to be strong, to be healthy,” Aniston told Prevention. “Our muscle decreases as we as we get older, and it’s really important to strength train.”

Aniston collaborated with Pvolve to create a “Sculpt Anywhere Bundle,” according to Prevention.

Aniston also spoke about the workout with TODAY. She told TODAY that she focuses on a “sculpt and burn” method.

“I love the way we start the workouts with a big heart-opening (pose), getting into a staggered stance then opening our arms and twisting get our joints all warm and mobilized,” she told TODAY. “You can hit every part of your body pretty efficiently.”

TODAY noted that Aniston is “is “a fan of low-weight, high-rep exercises,” but she has learned how to incorporate higher weights into her workouts as well.

She told TODAY that it’s important “to build our muscles for bone support and joint support, especially as we grow older.”

Aniston gave other tips for how she stays in shape.

“I don’t think I’ve ever done the same workout twice, and that’s one of the many things I love,” she told Prevention. “It’s not repetitive, and you don’t get bored. It keeps me on my toes.”

She works out between three and five times per week, according to Prevention.

“We’ve had a really good relationship so far,” Aniston told Prevention of her body. “I’ve abused it a little bit. I’ve pushed it too far, for sure… We used to go by the thought of no pain, no gain.” But now, Aniston takes a more balanced approach.
