Actress and singer Jennifer Lopez and her ex-boyfriend Ben Affleck are getting closer, but it’s just as friends.
That’s according to In Touch, which reported that they are trying to repair their friendship for the sake of their kids. However, In Touch reported, through a source, that the pair are unlikely to ever be as friendly post-divorce as Affleck is with his first ex-wife, Jennifer Garner.
“Let’s face it, Ben is never going to be as close with J. Lo as he is with Jennifer Garner, they don’t share three kids,” the source told In Touch. “But they are both very sensitive to the fact that [J. Lo’s] twins Max and Emme are very close to Ben’s kids.”
Garner and Affleck have three kids together. Lopez, a former “American Idol” judge, has two kids with her former husband, singer Marc Anthony.

“She’s actually devastated,” a source told Page Six. “She’s keeping it together publicly but she’s told everyone around her not to trash Ben. She doesn’t want to get down in the dirt with him.”
Yet another source, though, described Lopez as “having a blast” filming her new movie, “Office Romance.”
The source told Page Six that Affleck had been reaching out to Lopez again and noted that Garner and Lopez “are actually friends. They bonded over co-parenting their kids. I don’t know why the press feels they have to pit women against each other.” For her part, Garner is dating businessman John Miller.

“There’s a tendency to look at breakups and want to identify root causes or something. But honestly … the truth is much more quotidian than probably people would believe or would be interesting,” he said to the magazine.
“There’s no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue. The truth is, when you talk to somebody, ‘Hey, what happened?’ Well, there is no, ‘This is what happened.’ It’s just a story about people trying to figure out their lives and relationships in ways that we all sort of normally do.”
The couple famously were engaged years ago before breaking off their engagement and marrying and divorcing other people. They reconciled and finally married.
