Even a black eye can’t dim Jennifer Lopez’s spotlight.
As she gears up to host and perform at the 2025 American Music Awards, Lopez revealed she suffered a facial injury during intense rehearsals — but in true J.Lo fashion, she’s powering through with grace and grit.
Taking to her Instagram Stories, the global superstar shared a photo of herself icing her eye, writing: “So this happened… during AMAs rehearsals.” She later posted a clearer shot of the aftermath — showing a cut on the bridge of her nose and what appeared to be a mild black eye.
Fans didn’t have to worry long. In a follow-up photo featuring the doctor who treated her, she added: “A week later and a whole lotta ice, I’m good as new.”
This marks Lopez’s second time hosting the AMAs — her first was in 2015 — and she’s returning to the stage as both emcee and headlining performer. With three AMA wins and a history of more than 10 show-stopping performances, J.Lo remains one of the ceremony’s most beloved figures. She also holds the historic distinction of being the only female artist to achieve a No. 1 album and No. 1 movie in the same week.
Her 2025 performance promises to be a signature J.Lo production, featuring her iconic blend of music, dance, fashion, and cinematic visuals.
This isn’t the first time Lopez has faced a setback before a major show. She famously tumbled during her 2009 AMAs performance, later revealing on The Ellen Show that she slipped while landing on a dancer’s back due to sweat and stage lighting. The result was a bruised bone, but Lopez — ever the pro — continued performing.
This year’s fan-voted AMAs will air live from Las Vegas on Monday, May 26, broadcasting on CBS and streaming on Paramount+. Nominees include top names like Kendrick Lamar, Post Malone, Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, and Shaboozey.
The show is produced by Dick Clark Productions, and On the Rocks Premium Cocktails returns as the official cocktail partner of the event.
Injury or not, Jennifer Lopez is clearly ready to own the stage — once again proving that the show must (and will) go on.
