Jeong Eun Ji Dishes On Her Character In “Pump Up The Healthy Love,” Working With Lee Jun Young, And More

Jeong Eun Ji has shared her thoughts on her upcoming drama “Pump Up the Healthy Love”!
“Pump Up the Healthy Love” is a rom-com drama about Do Hyun Joong (Lee Jun Young), a passionate and determined gym owner who radically transforms the lives of his overly anxious gym members.
Jeong Eun Ji will star as Lee Mi Ran, a woman who joins the gym to get over a recent breakup. She decides to train with Do Hyun Joong, who promises to change both her mind and body. However, she soon finds herself facing even bigger challenges than she expected.
On why she chose to star in the drama, Jeong Eun Ji shared, “I’ve always enjoyed working out, and the idea of a ‘muscle growth drama’ intrigued me. I was drawn to how the story showcases not just physical changes but also how exercise positively transforms one’s life and mindset.”
Describing her character, Jeong Eun Ji explained, “Mi Ran has insecurities about her appearance and believes that her chubby body prevents her from being loved. However, as the story unfolds, she realizes there are far more important values in life. Her journey of change and growth felt incredibly realistic and relatable, so I found myself cheering for her as I portrayed her.”
Jeong Eun Ji also revealed that she put a lot of effort into portraying Mi Ran authentically, saying, “For the first time in my acting career, I personally experienced both weight gain and weight loss for a role. I wanted Mi Ran’s body transformation to blend naturally into the story, so I hope viewers can see and connect with that progression.”
On working with her co-star Lee Jun Young, she said, “Lee Jun Young was full of energy on set, which really motivated me. This was my first time acting opposite a younger co-star, so I was a bit nervous at first, but he guided me well on set, and we naturally developed great chemistry.”
Jeong Eun Ji concluded by encouraging viewers to tune in to the drama, saying, “‘Pump Up the Healthy Love’ is a drama that can resonate with everyone—whether you’ve never exercised before, are just starting out, or already live a fitness-focused lifestyle. The drama features a diverse variety of meaningful stories. I hope you all enjoy it in your own way.”
“Pump Up the Healthy Love” is set to premiere on April 30 at 9:50 p.m. KST.
