Joey Yung Responds to Viral Clip of Jackie Chan Touching Her Back: “I Didn’t Feel Anything”

The 2025 Greater Bay Area Film & Music Gala in Macau gathered some of the biggest stars in the Chinese entertainment world, but one unexpected moment stole the spotlight—a viral video showing 71-year-old Jackie Chan patting Hong Kong pop diva Joey Yung on the back.

In the now widely circulated clip, Joey Yung is seen sitting beside Jackie Chan in a revealing backless gown when he reaches out to lightly tap her back and shoulder. Moments later, Albert Yeung, CEO of Emperor Entertainment Group and Joey’s longtime boss, swiftly approaches and swaps seats with her prompting online speculation that the move was a calculated “rescue.”

When asked about the incident during a recent event, Yung addressed the controversy head-on. “There was no misunderstanding,” she said. “Do you really need me to explain it? I don’t even know why people are making such a big deal out of it. I honestly didn’t feel anything.”

Her longtime friend and fellow artist Charlene Choi (Ah Sa), who was present at the event, also chimed in to defuse the situation, calling the whole affair “pure speculation.”

The video quickly sparked debate across Chinese social media. Some criticized Jackie Chan’s actions as inappropriate, especially given Yung’s attire and his seniority. Others defended the legendary actor, saying it appeared to be a harmless gesture blown out of proportion.

Despite the brief uproar, Yung’s calm demeanor and candid response seem to have diffused much of the backlash. No further official statement has been issued from Jackie Chan’s camp.

As always, netizens remain divided—but one thing is clear: Joey Yung has chosen grace over drama.
