When Ranbir Kapoor was seen playing the sapera to a naagin on Sony Entertainment Television’s Sabse Bada Kalakar’s grand finale (which airs this Saturday on Sony Entertainment TV), most didn’t think much of it.
It was also the coming together of two star children – Rishi Kapoor’s son Ranbir and Johnny Lever’s daughter Jamie (their fathers have worked together in many films earlier). Ranbir made a unique entry on stage as a snake charmer playing the been when Jay Bhanushali’s co-host Jamie Lever turned up as a naagin called Freedevi – a tribute to Sridevi’s iconic naagin character. The judges enjoyed the short entry skit and Ranbir was sporting enough to act along. In fact, he even asked Jamie for guidance as to how to go about it while playing a sapera.
Says Jamie, “Ranbir is very sweet and charming to talk to. While we were discussing the script he humbly asked me what he was expected to do and what his dialogues would be but he also improvised a little during the performance which was fun. Ranbir plays a detective in Jagga Jasoos and on our show you will see him revealing the mystery of this poor naagin who was initially Sridevi but since Jagga sets her free, she becomes Freedevi. Ranbir really enjoyed my mimicry of Sri devi and appreciated my work. He already knew I was playing Sridevi’s famous Nagina character by my costume and appearance but he was quite stunned when I said my dialogues in her voice too.”
