Jung Kyung Ho shares his experience playing No Mu Jin in Oh My Ghost Clients.
Oh My Ghost Clients is a fantasy comedy action drama about the labor attorney No Mu Jin (Jung Kyung Ho), who gains a supernatural ability to see ghosts. He sets out on a thrilling journey to resolve their labor disputes.
Leading this fantasy comedy is Jung Kyung Ho, who plays a titular role (Korean title Labor Attorney No Mu Jin) for the first time in his acting career.
Revealing why he chose this K-drama, Jung Kyung Ho said, “The script was interesting. The story of a realistic character — a labor attorney just trying to make a living — has emotion and humor. I felt it was a project with a kind of positive energy that could help relieve the fatigue of viewers.”
In his previous K-dramas, Jung Kyung Ho gained fame playing roles, including a prison guard, doctor, and lecturer, earning the moniker “the specialist in professional roles.” This time, he transforms into a hero labor attorney who fights for workers’ rights.
When asked what drew him to the character of No Mu Jin, Jung Kyung Ho explained, “I think I was drawn to the character because he’s someone who grows both as a person and as a labor attorney while helping to resolve the grudges of ghosts who had unfair deaths due to industrial accidents.”
He continued, “I met with labor attorneys and spoke with them to better understand the profession itself. And since Mu Jin isn’t the kind of character who chases profit, I wanted to reflect that aspect, so I tried to portray him with messy hair and an unpolished appearance.”
Jung Kyung Ho also found the character setup of No Mu Jin — who can see ghosts and listens to the stories they couldn’t tell while alive — particularly unique.
“It was the first time I [my character] was working in cooperation with ghosts,” he said, adding, “So for the scenes where my character becomes possessed, I studied gestures extensively to make sure the personality of each ghost came through clearly, and I tried to show a different nuance each time.”
Oh My Ghost Clients will premiere on May 30. News about the K-drama’s global OTT is yet to come.
