A lot of the scenes in the new Mission Impossible film were edited out even before the film reached the censor board.
A source close to the project spills the beans. “The makers of Mission Impossible Fallout wanted to avoid references to Kashmir as far as possible. All road signs and place names pertaining to the Valley were removed during post-production and editing.”
Apparently, two dramatic sequences were also removed from the ‘Kashmir’ episode before Mission Impossible Fallout went to the censor boards across the world.’
“One was a shootout at a checkpost where Kashmiri citizens were shown being gunned down. Another lengthy chase sequence featuring actress Vanessa Kirby was also removed from the Kashmir chapter of the film. The Mission Impossible team didn’t want to get the politics of the Valley wrong. So they removed two key sequences from the Kashmir episode. That they still managed to get certain key geographical details about Kashmir, is another matter.”
