Katrina Kaif is on a role-shopping spree. She sent out feelers to many forthcoming projects including Shree Nayaran Singh’s Batti Gul Meter Chalu and Kabir Khan’s ’83
In both she would have been part of a virgin pair, with Shahid Kapoor in Batti Gil Meter Chalu and Ranveer Singh in ’83.
Unfortunately she doesn’t suit either part.
Sources say the first film requires a rustic North Indian leading lady for Shahid. As for ‘83the leading lady opposite Ranveer Singh is supposed to play Romi Dev who is very very Punjabi.
As a source close to the ’83 project says, “Katrina is very close to director Kabir Khan and his wife Mini Mathur. And Kabir who has worked with Katrina in two earlier films does want to cast her. But does she look Punjabi from any angle ? It’s impossible to cast her in this film although she is very keen, and Kabir is thinking of flexing the character’s personality to suit Katrina. And if Punjabi Akshay Kumar can play South Indian PadmanArunchalam Muruganantham, why can’t the non-Punjabi Katrina play Romi?”
While Katrina’s presence in the two above films remains uncertain she is all set to step intoPriyanka Chopra’s zone with the next instalment of Krissh. Sources in the know say the father Rakesh and son Hrithik Roshan are keen to cast Katrina in Krissh 4.
“She is hit it off with Hrithik in two Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Bang Bang. AndKrissh 4 is just the masala dossier that Katrina’s career needs right now. She’s made it known that she wants to be in the next Krissh film and the Roshans are game,” says a source in the know.
