Netflix announces the release date of Keira Knightley’s The Woman in Cabin 10 movie adaptation, unveiling first-look images. Based on Ruth Ware’s bestselling 2016 novel, the upcoming psychological thriller from filmmaker Simon Stone tells the story of a journalist (Knightley) who stumbles upon a murder late at night while on a luxury yacht for a travel assignment.
Knightley is joined by Guy Pearce (L.A. Confidential), Hannah Waddingham (The Fall Guy), David Ajala (The Dark Knight), Gitte Witt (Cadaver), Art Malik (The Little Mermaid), Daniel Ings (Lovesick), David Morrissey (The Walking Dead), and many others in the cast.
Now, Netflix has confirmed that The Woman in Cabin 10 will arrive on the streamer on October 10, revealing seven new images from the movie. The images offer a sneak peek at Knightley’s journalist and several other passengers, while teasing a tense and dark tone. Check out the photos below:
What This Means For The Woman In Cabin 10
The Woman In Cabin 10 Is Tense And Eerie
The first-look images offer some insight into Cabin 10‘s eerie vibe in contrast to the luxurious and laid-back nature of the trip. Knightley plays Lo, a reporter who witnessed a passenger being thrown off the ship at night and reportedly truthfully what she saw but wasn’t believed. In the same press release, Stone shed some light on the movie’s theme, revealing that Cabin 10 explores “the fear of not being believed.” Check out what she said below:
Cabin 10, at its heart, is about a woman who experiences something wrong, reports it truthfully, and isn’t taken seriously because of who she is. Too many people know what that feels like and I think we want vindication for ourselves as much as Lo.
The Woman in Cabin 10 also marked the second time Knightley played a reporter. She previously portrayed Loretta McLaughlin, the first journalist to connect the Boston Strangler murders and break the story in Boston Strangler. While the roles sound similar on the surface, Knightley’s Lo was gaslighted into believing she was wrong.
Our Take On The Woman In Cabin 10
The Woman In Cabin 10 Is A Must-Watch For Thriller Fans
Based on the first-look images and Stone’s comments, it sounds like The Woman in Cabin 10 is the kind of gripping psychological thriller that would enrage viewers while keeping them on the edge of their seats. Drawing similarities to movies like Intrusion, Gone Girl, and The Girl on the Train, the movie features an unreliable narrator and a suspenseful plot.
