Kannada superstar Yash has a lot to rejoice about. His last year’s release KGF was the surprise blockbuster of the year 2018.
After earning profits close to 300 crores rupees at the worldwide boxoffie KGF now goes to China, the new goldfield for Bollywood where Nitesh Tiwari’s Dangal and Sriram Raghavan’s Andha Dhun have already earned massive profits.
The film’s leading man Yash is over-the-moon about his blockbuster’s Chinese journey.
“There’s a whole new market there and it’s being released in Pakistan by Suniel Shetty, an old and very trusted friend who knows what’s to be done. So the film is in safe hands,” says Yash.
He feels a whole new market has opened up for Indian cinema in China and the second instalment of KGF may be released in a Chinese version to tap the market as a primary rather than secondary earner.
Says Yash, “Yes, we may do a full Chinese version. Can you imagine what the reach of a Chinese version would be when Indian/Hindi films with Chinese subtitles are doing so well?”
Yash says it’s time for Indian cinema to adapt a global perspective. “I was originally seen as a Kannada actor. KGF was seen as a regional film. It went on to become an all-India success and then captured the imagination of a global audience. It’s time for Indian cinema to start thinking global.”
