Kim Soo Hyun’s Team Denies Dating Late Kim Sae Ron During Military Service, Cites Diary Evidence

On September 30, attorney Go Sang Rok of Law Firm Pil, who is handling Kim Soo Hyun’s criminal case, revealed, “After being appointed as Kim Soo Hyun’s representative, I reviewed all the materials. In his military diary, Kim Soo Hyun initially recorded daily life and later began writing about his then-girlfriend. He would bring these diary-style letters out during leave to share with her.”

Go emphasized that the letters Kim wrote to his girlfriend contained clear romantic expressions such as “I love you,” while his notes to Kim Sae Ron were limited to daily reflections, weather updates, and military experiences. “The records have been distorted—letters to his girlfriend two years later were placed side by side with those to Kim Sae Ron, creating the false impression of a romantic relationship. At that time, they were not involved,” he explained.

The lawyer added that correspondence with Kim’s girlfriend mainly revolved around typical couple matters, aside from keeping their dates discreet.

Controversy erupted after YouTube channel Garo Sero Institute claimed Kim had been in a relationship with Kim Sae Ron since her teenage years, even releasing private photos they alleged supported the claim. Kim’s agency, Gold Medalist, immediately denied the accusations and launched legal action.

The Seoul Central District Court has already issued a provisional order requiring Garo Sero Institute to cease what the court defined as stalking behavior against Kim. Garo Sero Institute appealed but the request was dismissed. Meanwhile, Kim’s team maintains that an alleged recorded conversation released by the opposing side—where the late actress purportedly claimed she dated Kim as a minor—was manipulated using AI technology.

The disputed recording has been sent to the National Forensic Service for analysis, though results have yet to be announced. Kim’s agency has filed complaints against Garo Sero Institute for violating the Stalking Punishment Act and defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act.
