Netflix has officially released new character posters and teaser clips for its highly anticipated fantasy rom-com Genie, Make a Wish, starring Kim Woo-bin and Suzy.
Set to premiere globally on October 3, just before Chuseok, the series promises a blend of fantasy, comedy, and romance as a mischievous genie and a stoic human engage in a battle of wits, rules, and desires.
Kim Woo-bin as the Devilish Genie
Kim Woo-bin transforms into Genie, a devilish lamp spirit who awakens after a thousand years. Surrounded by golden light, he is described as playful yet menacing, with the poster quote declaring: “Humans are destined to fall into corruption.”
Armed with a sinister smile and a symbolic hourglass floating in his hand, his mission is clear—prove human weakness by granting wishes and leading them to downfall.
Suzy as the Emotionless “Psycho” Master
Opposite him, Suzy plays Ga-young, the genie’s new master—an emotionless woman with a mysterious past. Her character poster shows her in a dazzling dress with piercing eyes and scars on her arms, holding a drill against the lamp.
Her defiant line, “I’m the only bad one in this world,” hints at her complex morality. In the teaser, when Genie threatens, “I’ll corrupt you and kill you,” she bluntly fires back: “Get lost. Go to a barber shop.”
This fiery back-and-forth showcases the “hate-chemistry” fans are already buzzing about.
A Clash of Desires, Rules, and Romance
The story revolves around Genie’s attempt to tempt Ga-young with three wishes, only to be met with her unshakable discipline and unorthodox worldview. Unlike other humans, Ga-young doesn’t fall for his tricks, leading to an unpredictable rivalry.
