Landman Season 2 Scores 83% On Rotten Tomatoes, Beating Season 1

Landman season 2 has debuted to a strong Rotten Tomatoes score. Premiered in November 2024, the Paramount+ series stars Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris, the titular landman for an oil company in West Texas.

Ahead of its premiere on November 16, Landman season 2 has debuted with an 83% score from the critics on Rotten Tomatoes, surpassing season 1’s 78%. Season 2 only has 6 reviews at the time of writing, compared to season 1’s 37, so its score should fluctuate as more are published. Season 2 doesn’t yet have an audience score, though it should begin to take shape after its premiere.

Co-created by Yellowstone‘s Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace, based on the podcast Boomtown hosted by the latter, Landman season 2 continues following Tommy Norris as he may be closer to his breaking point than he knows, facing growing pressure from M-Tex Oil, Cami Miller (Demi Moore), and the weight of his own family legacy.

Landman season 2’s cast also brings back Ali Larter, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, Paulina Chavez, Kayla Wallace, Mark Collie, James Jordan, and Andy Garcia. New cast members include Sam Elliot and Stefania Spampinato.

Though its 83% Rotten Tomatoes score indicates mostly positive reviews from critics, ScreenRant‘s Landman season 2 review diverges from the consensus. As Grant Hermanns writes, “Taylor Sheridan’s best new series takes a major step backwards… Landman season 2 takes [the] show in a few great directions, but as it fixes one of its biggest problems, it doubles down on others.”

Otherwise, critics suggest that season 2 refines its storytelling and digs deeper into the heart of American grit. Reviewers like Tim Glanfield of The Times and M.N. Miller for FandomWire praise its bold mythic tone and sharp writing, calling it both entertaining and reflective of real-world struggles. The show’s mix of humor, tension, and Texas-scale ambition seems to have struck a richer vein than before.

While not without flaws, season 2’s improved pacing and character work have helped it rise above its predecessor. Brittany Frederick for Fangirlish and Collider‘s Jeff Ewing note that it’s more confident and engaging, even if it still stumbles occasionally. Despite criticisms about its macho tone from CBR‘s Katie Doll, Landman season 2’s cinematic energy and stronger narrative focus have helped it earn it a solid score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Landman season 2 premieres November 16 on Paramount+.
