India’s most precious national treasure Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar has some advice for Mumbaikars and Maharashtrians.
“My humble request to them with folded hands is, please don’t take Covid lightly. It is not gone as yet. People in Mumbai behave as if the threat is over. Far from it. If we don’t follow the Covid guidelines carefully we will be faced with a second wave of the pandemic, which will be worse than the first,” says Lataji sadly.
She is specially concerned about the crowds gathering at weddings. “In my hometown Sholapurthe administration allowed only 50 guests to begin with. They then allowed some added guests . But one can see 2,000 guests at weddings. This must stop. If we must have celebrations , have them by all means. But please stay within limits.”
Lataji is concerned about the Covid cases in the entertainment industry. “I’ve heard some of my favorite people from the industry are down with Covid. My prayers are with them.”
