Lee Yeon will reportedly join IU and Byeon Woo Seok in 'Wife of a 21st Century Prince'

Actress Lee Yeon has reportedly picked her next K-drama project after two years.
On June 11, media outlet News1 reported that Lee Yeon will be added to the cast lineup of the highly anticipated K-drama Wife of a 21st Century Prince.
In 2023, Lee Yeon was booked and busy with several K-drama projects and cameo appearances. She was part of the K-dramas D.P. Season 2, Delightfully Deceitful, Duty after School, and Crash Course in Romance. After a two-year hiatus, the actress will possibly make her grand return to the small screen.
Before Lee Yeon returns to K-dramas, she will first star in the upcoming film Gyeongju Travelogue alongside renowned actors Gong Hyo Jin, Lee Jung Eun, Park So Dam, and Kim Young Sung.
Lee Yeon started her acting career in 2017. She made a strong impression by playing a male middle school boy in the Netflix original series Juvenile Justice. She also received great attention in the K-dramas Weak Hero Class 1, Crash Course in Romance, Delightfully Deceitful, and the Netflix original film Kill Bok Soon.
Wife of a 21st Century Prince is set in a 21st-century constitutional monarchy in Korea. The K-drama will focus on the romance between two royals: a conglomerate heiress frustrated with her “commoner” status and the son of a king, whose life is transformed after meeting her.
Lee Yeon will possibly work with confirmed main leads IU, Byeon Woo Seok, Steve Noh, and Gong Seung Yeon.
This will be the joint work of director Park Joon Hwa (Alchemy of Souls, What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim, and Because This Is My First Life) and writer Yoo A In.
According to reports, Lee Yeon will portray the role of Do Hye Jung, the chief secretary of IU’s character Seong Hui Ji. Seong Hui Ji relies on her the most.
Wife of a 21st Century Prince is currently filming. The K-drama will reportedly air in the first half of 2026, and it will exclusively premiere on the broadcast channel MBC.
