Li Yi Tong and Liu Yu Ning 'A Dream within a Dream' announces premiere date

Historical fantasy A Dream within a Dream has been confirmed to premiere on June 26. 

The C-drama tells the story of Song Xiao Yu, a bottom-tier actress, who accidentally enters the world of a script and becomes the female lead, Song Yi Meng. There, she reenacts the iconic scenes from the script. As she continues, the curtain slowly rises on a journey of defying fate — her rebellion against a predetermined destiny.

What would you do if you accidentally travel into the world of a script and become the female lead — one who is used, discarded, and tortured? Song Xiao Yu doesn’t even need to think. No doubt, she’ll run as far away as she can! It sounds easy in theory, but reality turns out to be harsh.

The moment she tries to change the plot, she automatically falls into an infinite loop bug, forced to endure 108 unique and non-repetitive ways to die. 

In other words, she’s “killed off” right from the start. Song Xiao Yu finally comes to terms with reality: no matter how hard she tries, the “plot” always forces her back to Nan Heng… And in this world, there are countless characters whose roles have long been “pre-set”: some are trapped within the walls of the palace, some are confined to powerful aristocratic households, some are tired of competition amongst women, and others are caught in struggles for power and status. Some yearn for freedom, yet can only dance in fear with shackles on their feet. Others dream of soaring high like a mighty roc, only to have their passion slowly worn away by the daily grind of restraint and mediocrity.

This isn’t just a fierce battle between Song Xiao Yu and Nan Heng — it’s a battle every character fights against his pre-written fate.

Li Yi Tong plays the lead role of Song Yi Meng / Song Xiao Yu, and Liu Yu Ning comes as Nan Heng. 

Joining them are Zhu Xu Dan, Riley Wang, Wang You Shuo, and Chang Long, among others.
