Ma Dong Seok and Lee Jin Wook are in discussion to lead the new Netflix movie Extraction: Tigo.
On October 2, media outlets reported that Netflix is currently preparing to produce a new film titled Extraction: Tigo, which will expand the world view of the Hollywood films Extraction and Extraction 2. According to reports, Ma Dong Seok and Lee Jin Wook will be the main leads of the upcoming Netflix original film.
Extraction: Tigo will be the joint production work of Ma’s Big Punch Pictures, B&C, and Nova Films. Actor Ma Dong Seok will write the story, while his brother-in-law, Cha Woo Jin, will be responsible for the screenplay.
The Extraction franchise began with the 2020 film, which premiered with Chris Hemsworth in the lead role and was the joint work of the Russo brothers. The second installment was released in 2023. While there are ongoing discussions about the production of Extraction3, the upcoming film Extraction: Tigo will be an independent work released this time to expand the original film’s worldview.
Ma Dong Seok will reportedly star as a mercenary who goes on a dangerous mission to rescue a kidnapped colleague. Lee Jin Wook will reportedly add tension to the story and join the team, engaging in a tense confrontation with Ma Dong Seok’s character.
Extraction: Tigo will be helmed by director Lee Sang Yong, who also created the films The Roundup: No Way Out and The Roundup: Punishment.
The upcoming Netflix original film will reportedly begin filming shortly after the Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving) holiday and is expected to be released worldwide.
This will be the follow-up film of Ma Dong Seok after the 2025 movie Holy Night: Demon Hunters, alongside Girls Generation’s Seo Hyun, David Lee, Gyeong Su Jin, Jung Ji So, and Choi Kwang Il. Ma Dong Seok is also set to lead the upcoming action thriller K-drama Hive.
Meanwhile, this will be the second upcoming film of Lee Jin Wook. He is also leading the new movie Seven O′Clock Breakfast Club for the Brokenhearted with miss A’s Bae Suzy, Yoo Ji Tae, Keum Sae Rok, Mi Ram, and Park Se Jin.
This year, he also appeared in the film Dark Nuns with Song Hye Kyo, Jeon Yeo Been, Moon Woo Jin, Kim Gook Hee, and Shin Jae Hwi.
