While his Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari Director Abhishek Sharma feels feature films made for cinema should only be released in theatres, Manoj Bajpai disagrees.
He says, “Film content belongs anywhere. You can take the two parts of Gangs Of Wasseypur and put them on OTT . Sholay and Mughal-e-Azam were lengthy films. They can be watched at leisure on OTT.I see no reason why feature films can’t be released on OTT. Every medium has its own ifs and buts .”
Manoj however feels there some specific large-screen experiences must not take the digital route. “I don’t mind watching films on OTT and I don’t mind then going to the theatres. But there are commercial mainstream films that are meant to be watched by a collective audience in the theatre. Those cannot and should be on OTT.
