Maren Morris Opens Up About Dating After Coming Out as Bisexual: ‘I Just Love a Woman’

Maren Morris is unapologetically opening up about her love life. In a recent conversation on the “U Up?” podcast, the “DREAMSICLE” singer discussed her dating life after coming out as bisexual last year.
The country-pop star revealed she has experience dating both men and women following her divorce from country singer Ryan Hurd. The couple was married for five years before filing for divorce in October 2023. Morris publicly came out as bisexual in June 2023.
A New Era for Morris
She shared that she often feels a deeper emotional connection with women. “My experience has been really positive. But I also have a confusion sometimes because I can connect with a woman, any woman, within like two minutes, and we’ll be talking about our childhoods,” the 35-year-old said. “Like, we will get into it so quickly. With a guy, that would take like years to get into that trauma.”
At times, she said, the emotional intimacy with women led to confusion between friendship and romance. “Sometimes I just love a woman and we’re friends. Then she’s giving me a vibe of, like, she’s gonna kiss me, and I feel like we’re just friends, but I really connect with you on this emotionally deep level,” she said.
“That’s where I sometimes have the hard delineation of romance versus friendship because women can connect so quickly and easily, which is a magical thing about us, but that’s the comparison, I guess, to dating men.”
She also said that women often excel at “building community,” describing it as a form of emotional survival. “We understand each other’s vulnerabilities and emotions,” she added.
Morris Stuns on ‘Jimmy Fallon’
In an interview with The Zoe Report, Morris opened up further about her journey. “I’ve always known that I am attracted to men and women. I think because I’ve been in straight relationships the last 15 years of my life, which has been consumed by my music career and living in Nashville, I never felt brave enough to talk about it.”
Morris recently released her newest album, “Dreamsicle,” on May 9. Blending country, pop, folk and jazz influences, the album highlights her lyrical depth and evolving sound. She also performed on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” singing her latest hit, “Too Good,” earning praise from fans. “The outfit, the energy, the vocals, I love everything about this,” one fan commented. “Stayed up late specifically just to watch this GREAT performance!”
