Michelle Saniei Reveals the Heartbreaking Way She Found Out Her Mom Had Colon Cancer

Michelle Saniei opened up about her mother’s stage 4 colon cancer diagnosis during the June 10 episode of “The Valley.” Saniei shared in a confessional that her mother initially thought she had food poisoning which led her to see a doctor who gave her the difficult prognosis.
Season 2 of “The Valley” was filmed last summer, and Saniei’s mom sadly passed away in November of 2024. This made Saniei’s conversation with co-star Lala Kent all the more poignant as she shared how devastating her mom’s battle with cancer had been at the time.
“She did her first treatment of chemo and it did not work. So then now she’s in her second treatment but the problem is it’s kind of everywhere now,” Saniei revealed, adding, “I don’t think I have much longer with her.”
Saniei Called Her Mom Her ‘Best Friend’
It was clear that Saniei’s mom’s diagnosis was taking a toll, as she broke down during a confessional explaining the close relationship that they had. “It’s been very hard for me because my mom is my best friend and the one who supports me the most,” she said.
The cancer diagnosis came at a particularly difficult time in the reality star’s life, coinciding with her split from Jesse Lally in October of 2023. She told Kent that her mom got sick “when I was going through everything with Jesse.”
Saniei was still in the midst of her divorce when her mom passed away on November 5, 2024. She shared the news of her mother’s passing in an Instagram post that was captioned in part, “You were my best friend since I was a little girl. I will love and miss you forever.”
A Touching Tribute
Ahead of last night’s episode of “The Valley” Saniei took to Instagram to pay tribute to her late mother with a series of pics that included photos of Saniei as a little girl as well as Saniei’s mom with her 5-year-old daughter, Isabella.
The post was captioned, “Sharing my heart with you tonight. This was the first time I spoke on camera about my mom’s battle with cancer. She’s no longer with us, but her love and strength are with me everyday. I miss her deeply, and I’m grateful to share a little piece of her with you.”
Saniei added, “Tonight is for you, Mom. I miss you every day.” Many fans and friends shared their love and condolences, including “The Valley” stars Nia Sanchez and Scheana Shay.
