Model Refuses To Share Award With Alleged Sexual Harasser Ali Zafar

It looks like the ghosts of the intense MeToo movement in 2018 will continue to haunt some of the more prominent accused in 2019, and not just in India but across the border.

In Pakistan singer-actor Ali Zafar who was accused of harassment by singer Meesha Shafi finds himself in a tight corner as the young-model actress Emam Suleman has refused to be nominated for the Lux Style Awards alongside Ali Zafar.

In a video on Instagram Emam has bravely spoken on how she finds it impossible to share the awards space with an alleged harasser.

What a sharp contrast this is to Bollywood where MeToo accused filmmaker Raj Kumar Hirani was praised to the skies by Ranbir Kapoor at an awards function while they both were being honoured for the same film(Sanju).

A well-placed source from Pakistan’s entertainment industry says, “Emam is well aware that this could eventuate in her boycott from the Pakistan film industry because the person she has taken on is powerful. She has still gone ahead and done it. In Bollywood none of the big stars have been called out by actresses . They don’t want to lose their jobs.Fair enough. We can’t judge women for the stance they take against their harasser. It is a very personal decision.”
