The versatile actor and filmmaker Guru Dutt’s cult classic film Pyaasa released in 1957 is known for all brilliant reasons in various departments of filmmaking. One of the main highlights of the film was the evergreen songs which are popular till date. One of the songs Yeh Duniya Agar Mil Bhi Jaye Toh Kya Hai sang by legendary Mohd Rafi was the most intense and considered as one of the best songs in the Bollywood music history. The song is known for its rich meaningful lyrics and noir setup.

After so many years the song is remembered and recreated by the makers, Yoodle Films for their upcoming film Noblemen starring Kunal Kapoor and Ali Haji in central characters.

The film Noblemen film centred around bullying in schools, directed by Vandana Kataria. It revolves around a 15-year-old boy, struggling with his adolescent years, terrorized by a gang of bullies in a posh boarding school, setting forth a chain of events that lead to loss of life and innocence.

The recreated version of the song Yeh Duniya Agar Mil Bhi Jaye is composed by Shri Sriram and KC Loy, sung by Suraj Jagan and lyrics by KC Loy perfectly blends with the dark and coincidentally the true theme of the film. The makers of the film recently released the teaser of the film and the song is being played in the backdrop giving goosebumps to the listeners and undoubtedly gut-wrenching experience. The musical team of the film kept the essence of the song intact without exploiting the song and honouring it to best of their abilities.

Speaking about it, the director Vandana said, “It’s an iconic song and seemed to fit our film and the present times very aptly. It’s darker in its thematic , has fast instrumentation, the lyrics have been changed to suit the film.

Adding to her thoughts, Siddharth Anand Kumar, VP , Films and TV, Saregama agrees and further elaborates, “Guru Dutts classic song : Yeh Duniya agar mil bhi jaaye – has a timeless quality to it. It is emblematic of the sheer worthlessness of times we inhabit – one that resonates with the situation the protagonists face in the film. Saregamas rich repetotire of Hindi film songs had this gem . And it allowed us to give this classic a modern but relevant twist . We are very happy with the final outcome – It’s darker in its thematic , has fast instrumentation, the lyrics have been changed to suit the film”.
