My Diwali Plans, Actors Opens Up

Shabana Azmi:  “My husband Javed Akhtar is coming  back on the 7th so he won’t be here for  Diwali. We are having a smalltaash party(cards) on the 8th.At midnight we’ll bring in my sister-in-law Tanve Azmi’s birthday.”

Tanushree Dutta(who triggered  off the MeToo  movement in  India): “This Diwali is  very special for me. It has opened up a whole new door in my consciousness. But when you say I’ve vanquished evil this Diwali you give  me  too much credit. I just brought in some light and awareness , that’s all.For actually vanquishing evil fully, the awareness has to remain and grow and everyone including the media must keep reporting and holding people accountable for their actions.Social change is always a joint effort not a one-person endeavour.”

Madhavan: “After a  very long time the entire extended  family is here for Diwali. I feel I am  in a Sooraj Barjatya film.”

But I feel Diwali would  be meaningful only when we eradicate the darkness in  our hearts.Noise and air  pollution  caused by  arbitrary  bursting of crackers must stop. Babies and  animals are a big part of the population. Make Diwali peaceful  for them.”
