My Favourite Patriotic Song & Film: Bollywood Gets Sentimental On Independence Day

Ustad Amjad Ali Khan:  “Lataji’s Ae mere watan ke logon is my favourite patriotic song.”

Shabana Azmi: “Kar chale him fida jaan-o-tan saathiyon is the most definitive of all the patriotic songs. It gives me gooseflesh every time I hear it. It’s written by my father Kaifi Azmi. My favourite patriotic film is Haqeeqat.”

Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra: “My favourite patriotic song is Woh subah kabhi toh aayegi from Phir Subah Hogi. My favourite patriotic film is V Shantaram’s Do Aankhen Barah Haath.The film showed social change and that’s true patriotism for me.”

Though many great patriotic films have been made I’d choose my own Dharm for its message of national integration at a time when rappers are singing about hatred.
