NBC executives are hoping to keep Kelly Clarkson’s television show going amid reports that she might want to step back from it because of family concerns.
According to Page Six, Clarkson, the former winner of “American Idol,” is hoping to “spend more time with daughter River Rose, 10, and son Remy, 8.”
As a result, she is considering leaving “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” according to Page Six.
The Executives Are ‘Searching for Ways’ to Keep Kelly Clarkson on the Show, the Report Says
Clarkson’s contract expires next year, according to Page Six.
Executive “are searching for ways to keep her on the network,” the publication reported.
“Kelly’s number one priority is her children, and they always will be,” a source told Page Six. “The show is grueling. It’s a whole lot of work, and I hear that Kelly would like to spend more time down South.”
Clarkson has been filming the show in New York City since 2019, according to Page Six.
People reported that Clarkson has a busy schedule coming up because she will start a Las Vegas residency in July 2025. The residency will run through November 2025, according to People, which noted that it will span 18 shows in total.
Kelly Clarkson Was Absent Recently From Her Show
In early March 2025, Clarkson was absent from her show for nearly a week, according to People.
“Kelly isn’t able to make it today. We’re sending her our very best,” actor Simu Liu told the audience, according to People. “I did not know that I was doing this until about five minutes ago when I arrived to promote my new movie Last Breath.”
A variety of other actors and actresses have filled in for Clarkson during the unexplained absences, including Wanda Sykes, Josh Groban, and Roy Wood Jr., according to People.
Clarkson told the Today show in the past that she spent the summer in Montana with her kids, and the break was good for them.
“It was really important to me to shut down for a minute,” Clarkson said on the Today show in 2022. She said that she and her kids “spent the whole summer in the mountains. It was nice. It felt like the first time my kids felt a little more centered as well.”
