Netflix has unveiled stills from the script reading of The Boy in the Last Row.
The Boy in the Last Row tells the story of Heo Moon Oh, a failed writer and Korean literature professor, who discovers the genius of Lee Kang, a boy sitting in the last row of his lecture hall, and becomes captivated by his writing.
The K-drama stars Choi Min Shik, Choi Hyun Wook, Jin Kyung, Huh Joon Ho, Han Ji Eun, and Jo Han Chul, among others. It is adapted from a Spanish play of the same name.
The story begins with the eccentric professor Heo Moon Oh (Choi Min Sik), plagued by a sense of inferiority complex from his unfulfilled dream of becoming a writer, meeting Lee Kang (Choi Hyun Wook), whose extraordinary genius rekindles his passion for literature.
Choi Min Shik plays Heo Moon Oh. Known for being irritable and curt when it comes to students’ writing, Heo Moon Oh is a man who conceals the wounds of his failed writing career and long-held inferiority complex. Amidst a pile of poor essays undeserving of even harsh criticism, he becomes captivated by Lee Kang’s writing — the only one that compels him to read the next sentence. This leads him to take Lee Kang under his wing as a special student.

Twinkling Watermelon star Choi Hyun Wook takes on the role of Lee Kang, a student who sits in the last row of Heo Moon Oh’s lecture hall. Despite being an engineering major, he stands out among literature students for his exceptional writing skills. Recognized for his talent by Heo Moon Oh, Lee Kang begins to receive literature lessons in secret.
Huh Joon Ho takes on the role of Kim Soo Hoon, a successful writer and Heo Moon Oh’s college classmate. Kim Soo Joon is the very person whom Heo Moon Oh once secretly admired and envied, a rival who became the source of Heo Moon Oh’s lifelong inferiority complex.
Kim Yoon Jin will take on the role of Ahn Eun Joo, Kim Soo Hoon’s elegant and beautiful wife. Jin Kyung is cast as Jo Hyun Sook, Heo Moon Oh’s wife, and a psychological counselor.
The Boy in the Last Row will be available exclusively on Netflix. Stay tuned!
