Kim Soo Hyun‘s legal representative has released new evidence refuting the claims that the actor has dated the late Kim Sae Ron during his time in the military.
On September 30, Kim Soo Hyun’s new legal representative, Ko Sang Rok of Phil Law Firm, released new evidence intended to clear the actor’s name. The evidence consists of a personal diary containing daily entries and letters to his then-girlfriend, which they regularly exchanged during his military leaves.
According to the lawyer, the differences in writing prove the nature of the relationships. Letters to his girlfriend contained “I Love You,” whereas those sent to Kim Sae Ron only discussed simple topics like the weather and his military routine.
The lawyer claimed that the letters were non-romantic at the time, and their romantic appearance is a “distorted impression” created by placing them next to actual relationship items from two years later. Regarding the genuine relationship, he confirmed that the content of the private letters with his girlfriend was typical of any couple’s ordinary conversations.

Kim Soo Hyun was embroiled in the controversy when the YouTube channel Gaseyeon accused the actor of dating actress Kim Sae Ron when she was still a minor. His agency, Gold Medalist, denied all claims, but the YouTube channel continued to release alleged photos confirming the relationship. Kim Soo Hyun then sued the channel, winning a provisional order against Gaseyeon for stalking, the appeal of which was dismissed.
Kim Sae Ron’s legal representative then shared an audio recording through Gaseyeon as alleged proof of the underage relationship. However, Kim Soo Hyun’s side disputes the recording’s authenticity, claiming it was manipulated using AI. Gold Medalist has filed criminal complaints against Gaseyeon, and the disputed recording is currently under examination by the National Forensic Service (NFS).
The controversy surrounding Kim Soo Hyun has caused the premiere of his Disney+ K-drama, Knock Off, to be postponed.
