On April 26, ADOR released an official statement, clarifying that the upcoming pop-up store for Indomie ramen brand, which NewJeans endorses is an “official event conducted by the brand’s partner company with prior approval from ADOR.” However, they firmly stated, “ADOR was not involved in any promotion activities through fan accounts, nor did it request or authorize the collection of personal information.”

ADOR further warned fans to be cautious, claiming that “some fan accounts and communities have been collecting personal information under the guise of conducting pre-demand surveys.”

This follows a post by Team Bunnies on April 25 via X (formerly Twitter), announcing a pre-demand survey related to the Indomie ramen pop-up store to be held in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, from May 1 to May 13.

In response to ADOR’s warning, Team Bunnies published a counterstatement later on April 26, revealing that the pop-up organizer and importer had contacted them on April 23. According to Team Bunnies, they were approached with a proposal to inform fans about a limited-edition ramen pack available for one month, aiming to prioritize online sales for fans’ convenience.

Team Bunnies explained, “Following discussions via email and phone calls with the responsible parties, we decided to conduct a pre-demand survey to determine the expected purchase volume and allocate a portion of the stock for online sales,” they said.

They emphasized, “Only the intended purchase quantity is collected. No personal information is shared with third-party organizations outside of Team Bunnies. All collected information is solely used for this survey and related email communication and will be deleted within seven days after collection.”

Moreover, they clarified that “the pop-up store could legally operate without prior approval according to the contract terms” and highlighted that “this pop-up is part of a global campaign, not limited to Korea.” They urged fans not to be misled by ADOR’s announcement.

Emails obtained by Ilgan Sports confirmed that the importer had indeed specifically requested cooperation from Team Bunnies regarding the online pre-sales and demand survey.

Meanwhile, tensions between NewJeans and ADOR have been simmering since last November when NewJeans filed to terminate their exclusive contract and announced plans to continue activities under the name NJZ.

However, after ADOR filed a lawsuit affirming the validity of their exclusive contract and an injunction to prohibit NJZ from signing new advertisement deals, the court ruled in favor of ADOR in March, effectively halting NewJeans‘ independent activities.

The current situation reflects an unfortunate clash involving fan communities, agencies, and brand partners with the fans caught in the middle of legal and commercial disputes.
