Nicole Kidman & Keith Urban’s Divorce Has Reportedly Taken a Turn: ‘It’s Not Icy — It’s Frozen'

It’s been almost two full months since Nicole Kidman filed for divorce from Keith Urban after 19 years of marriage — and now, insiders are giving a temperature read on how it’s going.

While former couples like Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin were able to “consciously uncouple,” it sounds like Kidman and Urban are on a much different path, according to Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice Substack. The former duo is no longer speaking, and any necessary communication is “running strictly through lawyers.”

“It’s not icy — it’s frozen,” a source told Shuter. “Nicole isn’t ready for a heart-to-heart, and Keith isn’t pushing it. Right now, silence is the most they can agree on.”

They described the 58-year-old actress’ emotional state as “heartbroken but functioning,” with the core focus being their two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14. That delicate and vulnerable feeling was also reflected in Kidman’s November 24 article with Ariana Grande for Interview magazine.

“I’m hanging in there,” she told Grande while honoring Grande’s role in Wicked: For Good. The conversation took place on October 19, which was only weeks after she had filed for divorce from Urban — and her emotions were raw.

When the couple split, shockwaves were sent through Hollywood because their marriage appeared to be rock solid. Still, unconfirmed rumors of an affair by Urban rippled through the entertainment industry. TMZ reported on September 30 that their inner circle believed the 58-year-old country singer was “with another woman” and the news was “all over Nashville.”

Urban’s guitarist, Maggie Baugh, was named early on after she gushed about her boss changing the lyrics in his single, “The Fighter,” to reference her. It just happened to be the song he wrote for Kidman about the early days in their relationship. Both parties have denied any affair.

Kidman is reportedly looking forward to a fresh start in 2026, per People. “She isn’t someone who dwells on regrets — she believes everything happens for a reason,” an insider revealed to the outlet in October while noting that Kidman is “keeping it positive.”

Shuter’s sources believe that Kidman and Urban will eventually find a way to thaw their frosty relationship. But for now, the Oscar winner knows that “healing comes first.”
