Panic prevails in the film industry with news of yet another purported blockbuster Dhishoom likely to be leaked .
Luckily the leakage did not happen.
Censor chief Pahlaj Nihalani now reveals that the piracy happens during post-production.
“In the post-production stage the film is put into dozens of computers as various technicians work on different aspects of post-production. Anyone with the new film on his or her computer can make a copy.”
Looking at a solution to the problem Nihalani says, “A legal undertaking from the post-production labsguaranteeing full confidentiality of the film’s content is the only solution. Otherwise piracy will continue.”
The Censor Board Of Film Certification(CBFC) has been repeatedly been accused of allegedly being responsible for the leak. However in order to prevent any possibility of a leakage from the CBFC chairpersonPahlaj Nihalani has now stopped submission of DVDs for censor certification.
The move has not gone down well with the Indian Motion Pictures’ Producers’ Association (IMPAA) which has been sending Nihalani a series of critical letters .
Says the censor chief, “By stopping the submission of DVDs for certification I am trying to curb piracy . ButIMPAA feels I am creating hurdles for producers. The producers’ organization has been sending me a series of nasty abusive letters calling me all kinds of names. It is this lack of unity that has encouraged piracy and brought the film industry to the brink of destruction.”
