Sonam Kapoor’s wedding to Anand Ahuja is said to be one of the weddings of the year. Yet till now everything has been quite low-key. While none of the Kapoors have officially announced the wedding, there’s a strong buzz that Anil and Sunita Kapoor’s elder daughter Sonam Kapoor is getting married in the first week of May (between May 1st-8th) to businessman Anand Ahuja.
While the sangeet and the wedding is said to be on the same day, apparently there won’t be any grand reception for Anil’s friends in Bollywood, like the one Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli had after they got married in December last year in Italy. Instead there will be a reception in Delhi for Anand’s friends and family, hosted by his parents, who are settled there. Anushka and Virat had two grand receptions – one in Delhi and one in Mumbai.
Says a family friend, “While the tentative dates of the wedding have been fixed for the first week of May, they are still up in the air as the venue hasn’t been fixed as yet. The Kapoors are waiting for a nod from one the top hotels in Mumbai. As the venue got changed from Geneva to Mumbai, it’s been tough getting dates at such a short notice. Apparently the sangeet will be held before the wedding on the same day. There may not be a grand reception in Mumbai even though Anil, Sonam, Rhea and Harshvardhan have many friends here from social circles and from Bollywood. The wedding is also said to be an intimate affair with just close friends and family present as that’s what the Kapoors want at present. In fact, many Bollywood celebs who haven’t been invited to the wedding are asking about it.”
Apart from Anil, Sunita, Sonam, Rhea and Harshvardhan, some family members including Anil’s brothers Boney Kapoor and his two daughters and Sanjay Kapoor and his wife Maheep and their children Shanaya and Jahaan are expected to fly down to Delhi post the wedding for the Ahujas reception, and they may be joined by some close friends of the Kapoors too.
There have been reports that Farah Khan is supervising Sonam’s sangeet with rehearsals happening every night at Anil’s Juhu bungalow and Karan Johar will be dancing to the song Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo.
