Luv Ranjan’s little film with no stars has out-performed some of the biggest names at the boxoffice. Made at an estimated budget of Rs 35 crores the film has already grossed over Rs 50 crores in the first week, with collections showing no signs of slackening at the boxoffice in the second week.
Ranjan is happy but not surprised. “We always knew we were making a film that would appeal to the youth. Critics called the film anti-women,misogynistic, etc. But that didn’t bother me. I was looking beyond the criticism.”
Ranjan’s film is now expected to be the biggest non-star film of Bollywood of all times.
“For me my actors Kartik Aryan, Nushrat Bharucha, Sunny Singh are stars. And beyond them it’s the script that is the superstar,” saysRanjan who feels there is no threat to his film in the coming week.
“The next big film is the Ajay Devgan starrer Raid on 16 March. That will be competition for my film. Lara Croft Tom Raider on 9 March? No. That’s being released only in English. It will affect a very small percentage of the movie-going audience,” says LuvRanjan.
