Only 5% Of BG3 Players Have Unlocked These 9 Achievements, & It Makes Absolutely No Sense To Me
There are some incredibly surprising numbers when it comes to Baldur’s Gate 3 achievements unlocked by players on Steam. Only around 5% of players have picked up some of the most simple and straightforward achievements in the game, which doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. I’d guess that this is due to players not being particularly interested or concerned about achievements and staying more focused on the gameplay experience itself, but as a self-proclaimed trophy hunter, these numbers irk me a little bit.
Rarity doesn’t necessarily reflect difficulty, and sometimes a low unlock percentage is associated with the task being tedious or even annoying, such as with Baldur’s Gate 3‘s “Busker” achievement that has players performing for strangers and collecting small amounts of gold. Other achievements are slightly more complicated, but not necessarily difficult, such as the “Jack of All Trades” achievement, which has a nifty trick to bypass its seeming complexity.

Hot Date: Is Karlach Really That Unlikable?
Only 5.7% Of Steam Players Have Gone On A Date With Karlach
Believe it or not, barely over 5% of Steam players have gone on a date with Karlach. Is she really that bad, or is there something else going on here? I think the main reason this achievement is so rare is because you have to enter the Lower City in Act 3 before you can actually go on a proper date with Karlach. I’m sure many players choose to romance her, but this might be indicative of a larger issue with the game, which is that many players get burnt out (sorry) before reaching Act 3.

Whether it’s due to “restart-itis” and players not even making it into Act 3, or the fact that players simply find a new romantic interest by the time they reach Act 3, it’s not Karlach’s fault her romance line is one of the least popular in the game. If you haven’t followed Karlach’s romance all the way to go on a date with her, it’s actually quite nice, so maybe give her another shot on your next playthrough.

Critical Hit: Tactician Mode Isn’t That Hard
It Might Sound Tough, But Tactician Is Not All That Difficult
The “Critical Hit” achievement has only a 5.6% completion rate on Steam, which is a little surprising. After the addition of Honour Mode, it’s not even the highest difficulty setting anymore, and it’s not all that much of a challenge if you’ve played through the game once or twice already. If you’re looking for more of a casual experience, there may be no incentive to even try out Tactician Mode, but I think you’re missing out.

Add to this the fact that you can actually unlock the Tactician Mode achievement by completing an Honour Mode run, and it’s a bit surprising more players haven’t done this after how long this game has been out. It seems like the harder difficulty modes in BG3 aren’t all that appealing, but I’d argue they are well worth trying out even if you aren’t a hardcore gamer. You’ll need to strategize a bit more, but Tactician Mode isn’t nearly as punishing as you’d expect.

Leave No One Behind: Those Poor Tieflings Get No Love
It Seems Complicated, But This Achievement Is Worth It
I’ll admit that this achievement is a little bit more complicated than others on this list, but at the same time, it’s one of the most worthwhile achievements in the game. This will require a bit of foresight and planning to unlock, which explains why it’s one of the rarer achievements. However, from a role-playing perspective, it’s one of the most rewarding.

To unlock the “Leave No One Behind” achievement, you’ll need to side with the tieflings at every stage of the game. There are a few inevitable tiefling deaths throughout each Act that don’t affect this achievement, and ultimately, you’ll just need to make sure all the tieflings you meet initially in the Grove end up surviving, aside from those deaths that can’t be prevented. At this point, there are plenty of useful guides to help keep the tieflings alive, so you don’t have an excuse not to save the tieflings in your next playthrough.

She Cannot Be Caged! Or Can She?
Sazza Isn’t The Most Likable Character, But This Achievement Is Pretty Straightforward
Sazza isn’t the most personable NPC in Baldur’s Gate 3, but does that justify a 3% completion rate for the “She Cannot Be Caged!” achievement? I’d argue this is one of the more straightforward achievements in the game, with only a few unique challenges that might prevent players from completing it. If you’re not trying to get this achievement deliberately, you will probably miss it, unless you really like Sazza for some reason.
Helping Sazza is considered an evil choice in Baldur’s Gate 3, which makes sense given her attitude and allegiances. However, there are some significant benefits to helping her in all three instances outside the achievement itself. She might not be very nice, but if you’re doing a proper evil run, it’s easily one of the best choices you can make and will lead to recruiting Minthara to your party.
This Isn’t Too Difficult If You Know The Tricks
The “Fancy Footwork” achievement is one that sounds incredibly challenging, but it can actually be unlocked with a couple of slick tricks. It requires players to defeat Gortash without setting off any traps in the Audience Hall, but you can actually take him out earlier after the Coronation Ceremony if you have a strong enough character to simply toss him over the ledge. You can save scum here to reload after getting the achievement, assuming that’s something you’re comfortable with.
Another method is to barrel bomb Gortash in the Audience Chamber by sneaking up close and stacking as many explosives as you can, then lighting him up with a massive kaboom. These aren’t the most honest strategies, but they’re certainly effective if you simply want to unlock the achievement.

Sins of the Father: Claim The Throne For Bhaal
I Guess The Most Evil Ending Isn’t That Popular
Personally, I’m a big fan of the evil playthrough options in Baldur’s Gate 3, particularly when it comes to Bhaal’s twisted plotline that ends with Bhaal taking the throne from the Netherbrain and breaking the world. “Sins of the Father” is clearly not a popular achievement, however, considering barely 3% of players on Steam have unlocked it by claiming the Throne of Blood.
Despite it being pretty terrible for everyone involved, a Dark Urge run is a lot of fun and will offer you the most unique storyline.

You’ll run into some of the best characters in the game and engage in some truly terrifying dialogue with characters such as Sarevok, so don’t rule it out just because you feel bad for choosing the evil path.

Jack-Of-All-Trades, Master Of None
Don’t Waste Your Time Multi-Classing Across All Three Acts
The “Jack-of-All-Trades” achievement asks players to multi-class into all 12 classes in a single playthrough without using Withers to re-spec. This sounds like an incredibly annoying challenge, but there’s a really easy way to do this without your Tav once you enter into Act 3. All you have to do is use a hireling once you’ve reached level 12 and multi-class them into each class, and presto, achievement unlocked.
I did this one the hard way before learning that you could simply use the hireling method, and let me tell you, it was absolutely not worth it. I can see why players wouldn’t want to do this, as having only one level in each class makes for a very weak Tav. However, once you learn the hireling trick, there’s really no reason not to grab this achievement once you hit Level 12.

Punch Drunk: Even Easier With Patch 8
The Way Of The Drunken Master Monk Makes This Achievement A Breeze
The “Punch Drunk” achievement was never really that difficult to unlock, but now that the Patch 8 Way of the Drunken Master class is available, there’s really no excuse for missing this one. It simply requires defeating 20 opponents while drunk, which is an absolute breeze if you’re playing the new Monk class. Drunk Monk builds are reliant on being wasted while you take out enemies, and despite the class being slightly underwhelming, it’s also a lot of fun.

Baldur’s Gate 3 got 12 new subclasses in its final update, including the Way of the Drunken Master monk. But its best feature is a little low-key.
With this most recent update, I’d expect the low unlock percentage for this achievement (2.7% on Steam) to go up considerably. If you haven’t given the Way of the Drunken Master subclass a try, it’s well worth it, especially if you want to get rid of some of that old booze you have lying around.

Busker: Earn 100 Gold With Your Musical Skills
This Is A Tedious & Low-Reward Achievement, But One Of The Easiest In The Game
The “Busker” achievement is one of the rarest in the game, and it’s actually less common than one of the hardest achievements, “Foehammer,” which Honour Mode and is understandably very rare. “Busker,” on the other hand, is incredibly simple and only requires players to play music in public and collect 100 Gold from citizens who toss coins as a reward for your great performance. You only need to pass a Performance check, which most Bards and other Charisma-focused characters should have no problem doing.
The “Foehammer” achievement, which requires completing the game on Honour Mode, has a higher unlock rate than “Busker” at 2.6%.
“Busker” has only a 2.4% unlock rate on Steam, making it the rarest achievement in the game. When you look at how complicated or difficult some of the other achievements are, this number is kind of confounding. However, it does make sense that many players simply don’t want to take the time to go busking, as there’s minimal reward for doing so, and it can be somewhat time-consuming as well.
Overall, the above achievements don’t justify their extremely low completion rate on Steam, and it seems like more players would be on top of these considering how long the game has been out and how many people are actively playing. An even more shocking figure is that less than a quarter of players on Steam have ever even finished a campaign, evidenced by the 23% completion rate of the “All’s Well That Ends Well” achievement. For most players, Baldur’s Gate 3 may be more about the journey than the destination.
